'Mattress' adalah termasuk dalam list duit hantaran ke?

Hari ni aku membuka telinga luas-luas, sangat luas ok! Kat cafe ni aku bole dengar seorang pensyarah tengah explain kat mamat Iran ni pasal kawin..Aku excited, sebab aku baru kawin *wink*

Aku memang ingat bulat-bulat conversation tu, sebab i kan telinga kuali, so sorry for the broken English ;)

Iran : I'm interested in marrying Malaysian girl Dr.. *nada sedih*

Dr : What? Are u serious? It's not easy man... *dalam gaya yang sangat cool, aku gelak sorang-sorang*

Iran : Woman in Malaysia are easy to smile to everybody. I'm melting now!

Dr : It's sound that you like someone.. Is it my students?. It's Malaysian culture, we smile to everybody, don't get wrong... *dia perasan, aku takkan senyum kat dia lagi*. Let's me explain to u. In Malaysia, mostly boy and girl meet their soulmates in university. Then they bring to show to their parents. If girl, they bring home her boyfriend, and if boy, they bring home his girlfriend. Then, the parents automatically know, that is their daughter's boyfriend. Sometimes, parents don't like their children's choice. Now, that's the problem. But, in the new modern world like Malaysia now, we accept the choices of our children in order to avoid social problems. Make it short, after they meet their loves ones parents, the family's boy will send the eldest in family to the girl's house. It's like u booking the girl or we call engagement. We bring presents and set the date for the wedding. Normally engagement will takes time for few months, a year or may be two years. Then, it's now for the marriage. In Malaysia, different countries set for the different Mahar (Mas Kahwin). It is a must to pay, compulsary. In Selangor, we have to pay for RM80, but I heard in Kelantan, they have to pay for RM22.

Iran : Owh..really? Why?

Dr : I dont know, it's the rules for the different payment. But, u also have to give the other money to the girl in order to support the occassions. It's a burden for a man if they dont have enough money. In Malaysia, we call it as 'duit hantaran'. Normally it's cost RM10 thousands. But it also depends to the girl's family demand. Frankly speaking, the money it's not enough to support for the whole occassion, so the parents probably use their own money. Time is changing, everything is so expensive.

Iran : It costs too lot of money.

Dr : From the money, the girl will buy beautiful dress, gown, mattress and everything.

Iran : Why mattress?

Dr : Because you want to sleep on the new mattress. Other than that, people come to see new bedroom set. They decorate the bedroom to become beautiful, so it's not a shame to show to the guests.

Iran : Oh I see...

Dr : But, in the new modern world, girl tend to marry her boyfriend eventhough parents do not like him. They dont care. Normally, they married in Thailand.

Iran: Why Thailand?

Dr: Because we have wali hakim there. But the wedding is illegal in Malaysia. It's not easy ya....For a foreigner like you, it's become triple difficult.

Iran : 'Scratching his head', kruk...kruk...kruk

Aku rasa rasa ni opinion dari lecturer la..Tengok student berboyfren kat universiti and boleh bagi example ramai berjumpa time universiti. Eh eh aku pun encourage my students berboyfren juga tapi belajar jangan lupa. Tapi 1st year, tak payah hang nak menggatai meghela nak mengorat, tapi aku pun jumpa Juar time 1st year juga. Aku gatal juga ke? Tak tak Juar yang gatal mengorat aku..

Zaman 1st year degree, 1st time dating, pinjam hp kawan ambil gambar. Ok sorry gambar blur, zaman belum canggih.Kalau time ni siapa ada hp camera, kira anak orang kaya la.

2nd year yang lebih daring... ok berdosa!

P/s : Owh saya tak guna duit hantaran buat beli mattress ya Dr...Bakal menabung di dalam ASB *sikit-sikit, lama-lama jadi bukit*
